How You – Yes You – Can Help: Volunteering Activities in Dubai

Volunteering Activities in Dubai for Divers

If you have diving skills, whether you are a seasoned diver or recently qualified, adult, senior or junior with a mature attitude, and a willingness to use your skills responsibly, you are exactly who our volunteer workforce on the ground (or rather under the water) is made up of. Without divers, project REEFrame would never have existed, but there are so many other aspects to it now.

With Dubai Scuba Diving you can learn to rescue naturally broken coral and set it on its way to regeneration, ready to be returned to its natural habitat to resume the purpose for which it was created. The minimum age for a diver to volunteer with us is fourteen years old, and young divers will see their skills blossom as a direct result of their work with us. Using newly acquired skills in the process of achieving a practical aim hones those skills as they are used automatically as part of carrying out various tasks.

Those with no diving training behind them at all can, of course, learn to dive with us and contribute increasingly as their training gives them the skills to be able to help with the work.

Volunteering in Dubai for Non-Divers

There is plenty of work to do on coral reef projects that doesn’t involve being immersed in water. We need people to help build our structures – the nursery tables and so on that help to regenerate coral and get it ready to return to the seabed. If you are good with your hands, adept at building and repairing things, this might be something that appeals to you.   Those of a more cerebral rather than physical disposition can help by working with scientific data, translating what can seem like complex information into action plans to be carried out by those doing the physical tasks.   Those whose strengths lie in teaching can help by guiding and motivating the children who form such an enthusiastic and energising element of our teams.   Then there is photography and video, where one person’s experience or natural aptitude can get things done in an area that involves no water at all (although we always welcome underwater photographers and videographers, who perform a vital part of recording the project’s progress).   Sales and marketing, too, are part of the wider process and those with abilities in those areas can play an important part in keeping the ball rolling and getting things done, bringing the message of what we are doing to the attention of the great wide world and fostering such vital factors as sponsorship.   As for companies who create products and provide expertise, whatever services you can offer, we would be delighted to talk to you about how they can be leveraged as volunteering activities in Dubai.

How Sponsorship can Support Volunteering Activities in Dubai

Sponsorship can help at all stages and in all areas of our work, so if you think “all” you can offer is funding, that is an equally vital contribution to the cause. For instance, part of our work involves educating the community, because the more people understand what we do, the more likely they are to support us. Your sponsorship would help towards that.

Volunteering in Dubai for Students

We need our message to reach schoolchildren, making them aware at an early age of what is being done, what needs to be done in the future and how they can help. Similarly, we must reach students, particularly science students who might like to undertake a tropical marine science internship.

Volunteering Activities in Dubai for Whole Families and Peer Groups

Project REEFrame is our flagship operation as regards volunteer conservation in the UAE and as it falls under the banner of Freestyle Divers it may be thought of as a diving project, but as explained above, there is a lot more to it than that, and while one member of your family or group may come across this as part of their interest in diving, whole groups and families can get involved in this important work, so we encourage the divers to spread the word and enlist the help of others whose abilities and talents can do so much to make a difference.
