Frequently Asked Questions

We aim make participation in our exciting projects available to as many people as possible. Here are the answers to some common questions we receive.

Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible. We welcome divers from any diving agency with any qualification. Each project has roles that can be assumed by people with different levels of qualification. Some even have roles for non-divers. We have two rules: Have Fun and Stay Safe. We will always ensure that you are diving within your safety limits.

It’s super simple. Search through our list to find the project that appeals to you. Click on the red button at the bottom of the project listing and you will be taken to a page with all the project details, including the objectives, the timing, the available roles and the prerequisite certifications for each role. If you don’t yet have the prerequisite skills required for a role, click on the course buttons on the project page to get yourself signed up. Once you’re ready to join, click on the project signup button and become a member of the team.

Each project will have its own schedule. For example, the Marine Conservation projects are always running 7/7 and can be joined whenever you are free. Some will have specific dates defined in the project outline with a limited number of places. Others may be projects with a specific, one time objective with a fixed number of places.

Generally we work on a ‘first come first served’ basis – the idea is that you book in when you have time available, we do not force project team members into a rigid schedule.

Our new projects will be published on the website ‘projects’ page and we will make public announcements on our Facebook and Instagram pages. You can also sign up to receive our projects newsletter which will be sent to you by email, describing progress on existing projects as well as new projects that are being launched.

The team member costs for each project are described on the project page. Unless you need to invest in some specific personal equipment or training requirements to participate,  the diving costs will be at our normal rates. We consider projects to be a fun reason to dive with some team goals, we do not add any extra charges.

In most cases you will have the choice of either renting or purchasing the required equipment for the project. Depending on how long you would like to work on the project, we can advise on the most cost effective option to get you properly equipped.

We do publish articles about our projects to social media and to our newsletter. From time to time, our projects are also covered by journalists. You will have the choice of whether you wish to be mentioned or whether you wish to be included in photographic or video coverage. Generally our team members love the recognition they get for achieving their goals!

For some of our projects, for example our marine conservation activities, there are a limited number of places available for internships. These will be specified on the project page, along with the associated conditions for admission and participation.
