Sidemount diving has gained a lot of interest over the last few years. It is becoming less of a makeshift way to deal with cave diving-specific problems and a lot more applicable to general open water diving. Some of the main benefits are the redundancy in gas supply, extended time available and comfort. This is a great way to enjoy your Nitrox certification as you now have enough gas to breathe during the extended bottom time you now have! Divers with back problems also prefer this way of diving as it simply shifts the weight of the equipment to the sides and allow for normal motion underwater.
Freestyle difference: some of our staff dive almost exclusively on sidemount and can share their wealth of experience! We have tried many different systems and can share the pros and cons of the difference approaches to equipment configuration.
